bundling up

While Spring is around the corner, its still wet & cold here in San Fran. Decided to whip up some warm and cozy-ness for the little one. Result: A soft fleece hat that would cover his li'l ears. He loves it!

getting edgy..

Cloth diapers are insanely absorbent. So, when our little boy started drooling through those 'water proof' bibs, decided to bring in a second line of defense. I turned cloth diapers into burp cloths and bibs. Added an edge factor.. and now, we are ready for those designer burps!

Since I figured out how to finish edges, I created a lot more pieces, like this blanket. Fleece in nursery prints from a fabric store. I loved that I controlled the size of the blankets. Two super generously sized blankets for next to nothing!

rattled...!

You find inspiration everywhere.. and this time, my source of inspiration was our neighbor Chris. She turned from super novice to master sewer in no time. And looking at her creations.. made me excavate my sewing machine. Finding projects was no toughie. Our friends just had twins, and I decided to add a set of 'stuffed names' to their treat bag.

First stop was Scrap. Its an amazingly interesting store. They sell samples & scrap fabric. Samples from Pottery Barn, et al! Bottom line, fun, fabulous finds.. and the proceeds benefit art projects for kids in San Fran. Perfect uh?!

Next stop was JoAnn. More fabric and notions.

Next.. Lo Behold.. we have the twins' names all stuffed and rattle-y! To add a fun element, I added in bells in some of the letters so they double up as rattles. So, now, these kids can rattle, shake, chew, drool and mom can toss it right in the washer!

Only, I started with O. I should have saved that for the last as it ended up looking like a desiccated donut! Those curves just did not turn out right.. But, I don't' think a 2mo will realize that..

sweet fleet treat..

I have to get really creative to do anything creative with our older boy - especially if it doesn't incorporate sports. For VDay, thought it would be fun for us to make a sweet fleet treat for his buddies.. and he loved it. Each one would get a treat with a li'l personalized tags. No hearts for this valentines.. only cool propellers!!

He handled the personalization part of the tags.. it was an interesting spelling project for him.

and...woo hoo! we had these cool looking tags.

Next step was making the fleet.. and Neel very generously added a few to his belly.

not just his friends, some of his fav aunties got li'l treats too..
